Organ DonationIMA GSB Awareness Campaign
Organ Donation Initiative
A nationwide healthcare-led campaign aimed at increasing awareness and actual pledges for organ donation across India and Gujarat.
The Core Aim
“One organ donor can save up to 8 lives and improve many more through tissue donation.”
The campaign works to increase cadaver (after-death) pledges, close the gap between patient transplant waitlists and available organs, and promote public education on saving lives after death.
Operational Scope
The program is driven through state and local branches by distributing donor cards, conducting awareness talks in colleges, running media outreach, and collaborating directly with transplant bodies including NOTTO and SOTTO Gujarat.
Aangdan Mahotsav Launch
Inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel and Health Minister Shri Rishikeshbhai Patel, the campaign was launched alongside Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah and Shri Anilbhai Nayak (Hon. Secretary General, IMA HQ), other senior government officials, and IMA leaders. The launch triggered extensive state-wide media campaigns.
30,000+ Pledges at Narendra Modi Stadium
During a massive single-day public awareness assembly conducted at the Shri Narendra Modi Stadium, Motera, Ahmedabad, around 30,000+ people signed active organ donation pledges during the broader campaign drive.
100 Large-Scale Public Event Drives
Aligning with the Centennial celebration of IMA, and leading up to the 100th IMA NATCON, the NATCON 2025 Team conducted targeted registration drives at more than 100 large public events, resulting in thousands of citizens registering donor pledges with NOTTO.
