IMA GSB Initiative

CPR / COLS Training

Compression-Only Life Support (COLS) & Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training for a Prepared Community.

The Core Aim

Empowering every citizen to recognize sudden cardiac arrest, summon emergency services promptly, and initiate immediate chest compressions. By promoting hands-only COLS techniques, the campaign increases bystander participation, builds emergency confidence, and improves the chances of survival during cardiac emergencies.

Target Communities

Focusing on key community responders and vulnerable sectors, the project actively targets training for Home Guards, Civil Defence Volunteers, and High School Children.

Public Safety MoU • 6 December 2023

IMA GSB and Gujarat Home Guards Partnership

Launched on the 61st Foundation Day of the Home Guards and Civil Defence, this initiative was established through an MoU in the presence of Hon'ble Home Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi. Spanning 39 administrative regions across Gujarat, the program trains personnel in major urban hubs like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Rajkot, as well as peripheral districts, tribal areas, and remote locations.

Personnel Scope: Supporting a sanctioned strength of 45,640 personnel and an active on-duty strength of 41,178 Home Guards, who are all being progressively trained.
Youth Mobilization • Schools Initiative

School Children Training Drive

School children represent a vital cohort of prospective lifesavers. In collaboration with the Gujarat Red Cross Society, experts trained more than 30,000 children across Ahmedabad, equipping them with hands-on cardiac emergency response guidelines.

Building the Trainer Network

Medical Students as Trainers

To expand the community training network at a rapid pace, more than 500 medical students were trained to serve as instructors. This specialized volunteer workforce helps disseminate hands-on chest compression skills across the state.

Centennial Milestones • NATCON 2025

100 Training Programmes Celebration

Aligned with the Centennial celebration of the Indian Medical Association, and leading up to the 100th IMA NATCON, the NATCON 2025 Team successfully conducted 100 COLS training programmes targeting various public forums and community groups.
