Aao Gaon ChalenIMA GSB Rural Healthcare Initiative
“Aao Gaon Chalen”
A Landmark Rural Healthcare Initiative by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
The Core Aim
Reflecting IMA's unwavering commitment to rural communities, the programme aims to bridge critical healthcare gaps in underserved areas. This is achieved through structured diagnostic outreach, preventive care education, local health drives, and active community participation.
Genesis at Lakhavad Village, Mehsana
The national campaign of the “Aao Gaon Chalen” project was launched in Mehsana as the first adopted village. Conceived as the dream project of Dr. Ketan Desai, Chairman of the initiative, the inaugural ceremony was graced by Hon'ble Shri Shankarsinh Vaghela (Union Minister for Textiles, Govt. of India) and Hon'ble Shri Oscar Fernandes (Union Minister for Programme Implementation and Statistics, Govt. of India).
Grand Relaunch from Sardhav Village, Gandhinagar
After a substantial gap due to the Covid-19 pandemic, IMA Gujarat State Branch (IMA GSB) grandly relaunched the initiative to renew its commitment to rural healthcare on an extra-large scale. The relaunch was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel, in the presence of Health Minister Dr. Rushikesh Patel, Dr. Ketan Desai, and Dr. Anil Nayak (Honorary Secretary General, IMA).
This renewed mission targets delivering regular health camps, specialized diagnostics, and health education to more than 100 adopted villages across Gujarat.
