Following are the few important days in this month to celebrate.

1] World Diabetes Day — on 14th November: There are millions of people with diabetes in India not having proper access to the diabetic care. We have around 80 million diabetic patients in India. Diabetes is a disease involving multiple organs in the body so it must be treated in a comprehensive and multi disciplinary approach. The theme for this year is “Access to diabetic care”. We should work together in detecting diabetes early and attain the stage of complication free diabetics.

2] National Epilepsy Day– on 17th November:- 17th November is observed as the National Epilepsy Day to create awareness about the disease. According to WHO 50 million epilepsy patients are there around the world and in India its around 10 million. Epilepsy is mostly treatable with medical line of management. Let us create more awareness about the fallacies, myths and superstitious beliefs of the disease and guide the patients and their guardians to avail the correct and better treatment.

3) World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2022 – WHO along with few organisations celebrate this week from18-24 November every year. We should b Spread awareness and stop resistance. Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites change over time and no longer respond to medicines. This makes infections harder to treat and increases the risk of disease spread, severe illness and death. We should spread awareness about AMR and about over use of medications, self- medications, google treatments, buying medicines over the counter without the proper examination by the doctors and its consequences.

4] World AIDS Day:- It is observed on 1st December of every year. We should work towards “Ending the HIV epidemic ; Equitable access, Everyone’s voice” It is conducted to increase the awareness and knowledge about HIV and speak out against HIV stigma and to provide improved health care facility in moving towards ending the HIV epidemic .We from IMA can take the front seat in creating the awareness about the disease, its transmission and ways of preventions by conducting educational lectures or displaying videos about the same to the younger generations like the high school children and college students who are the vulnerable group. Take Care – Be Safe !! “Stay Safe – Be Healthy” Jay Hind ! Jay IMA !!
