India now has more than enough Doctors.

As per the statement of union state minister of health Dr. Bharti Pawar in parliament, India’s Dr : Population ratio is 1:834

This exceeds the WHO prescribed ratio of *1:1000.

*This is important as now govt has to rethink of its policies which were always based on the assumption that India doesn’t have enough drs.

1 No need of now paramedics to take over role of drs. No Bridge Course or any such move.

2 Govt should now concentrate on improving Quality of Drs produced rather than only Quantity. Due to the strict guidelines of MCI, Indian drs were supposed to be Best and were in demand worldwide. Recent policy changes and Mixopathy has put this reputation in danger.

3 Also focusing only on quantity rather than quality will endanger the health of common man and increased competition leading to unethical practices.

4 Make policies so as to address the skewed ratio between urban & rural areas by incentivising setting up rural area health infrastructure.

5 Govt Spending on strengthening of govt primary health care infrastructure should be on top most priority.

6 Steps needed to address unemployment amongst drs.

7 Stop blatant privatisation and Commercialisation of health care delivery system.“For Profit “ health care establishments governed only by Business Ethics should be banned.
