Since we have seen that during Covid, attacks on doctors, nurses and paramedical staff and police have increased. In Chennai people did not allow cremation of dead body of a doctor and they had beaten ambulance drivers and accompanying doctors. Friends let us tell you that 70% of doctors in the countries are facing violence physically or verbally. We have demanded for a long time that an ordinance regarding violence against doctors, nurses and staff at Andra Pradesh, Chennai, Meerut. Although under such circumstances also we continued to work. And we decided to declare,to show our protest.

As per instruction of IMA HQ, we have declared white Alert day on 22nd April by lightning the candle while wearing white coat and black day on 23rd April by having black ribbon on a shirt. Let us tell you friends that during this much fearful atmosphere we have continued our service there was no strike and we expressed intolerance to tolerance. This was a wake up call for the country and for the government.

So on the morning off 22nd April our home minister Mr. Amit Shah and health minister Dr. Harshvardhan called an emergency video conference with our National President & HSG and various leader. Mr Amit Shah talked about the Central act of violence against doctors. He said safety and security of health care workers is a great concern to them. He requested IMA to defer the symbolic protest. In view of assurance from the highest authority Government of India IMA called off white alert day and black  day. He said that we all know that Covid is here to stay for times to come so the act remains. Government is to provide a free and fearless environment to work for all healthcare workers.
