January 2023 Issue
Dear Doctor Colleagues,
Dear Doctor IMA Friends &Colleagues,
Wishing you Happy-Healthy-Wealthy New Year 2023, and also wishing you all Happy Makar Sankaranti & Uttarayan, and also wishing you happy Maha Shiv Ratri; I feel extremely happy that on 18th December 2022, a par-excellence, न भूतो न भूतो न भिवती Medico-Spiritual conference was organized by IMA-GSB with BAPS being the venue host, which was attended by over 1200 delegates.
All medical lecture were very informative and thought provoking; but lectures given by Pujya GyanVatsal Swami and Pujya Brahm Vihari Swami were really inspirational.
We have received suggestions from most of the attendees that, such medico spiritual seminars be organized more and more in future, may be including attendance with family members also. Lot many members have suggested that, in annual GIMACON as well as in our each annual conferences of various disciplines and faculties; lectures on topics such as “doctor-patient relationships’, “healthily the life style”, “how to live 50 after 50”, “challenges in medical practice” and also “Soul and Spirituality” and “positive thinking” should be included.
So many members have suggested that, with help from BAPS, we should make a book about our members’ memoirs, inspiring anecdotes and photos with Pujya Pramukh Swami. SO, we request you to send us a small write up of your such nice memories and copies of photos to IMA-GSB office.
Now, we are feeling very sad and worrisome of getting frequent news of suicides of MBBS students and of resident doctors. After doing tremendous and laborious hard work to achieve admissions and success in medical colleges, not only the candidate but his/her parents and entire family have warm wishes and high hopes for them. Parents have turned every stone to bring him to this stage, and it is so saddening and devastating for the whole family when he/she is gone or lost forever.
We must try to help them out by involving our psychiatry departments and our senior psychiatrists, giving psychotherapy. We
should also arrange frequent seminars and diagnostic and help camps in medical college campuses.
Senior residents and professors of departments should find ways, how best to relieve undue work and mental stress, and help how best to keep juniors happy and healthy, and how best to grow their careers. Someone has to break the cycle of stress cycle जो आगे से चली आती है।
In USA and Europe, every medical institute has committees and directive principles for strict prevention of “resident burn out syndrome”, it is now high time we also should adopt same system.
