Season’s Greetings!

First of all, best wishes to students who appeared in entrance exam of NEET PG this month. We hope everyone clears it successfully and get admission in their desired PG Branch.

All of you must have enjoyed the Kite Festival ‘Makarsakranti’. People in Gujarat celebrate as ‘Uttarayan’, in Punjab and Haryana, it celebrate as ‘Lohri'; in Eastern India, it celebrate as ‘Bihu’ and in South India, it celebrates as ‘Pongal’. So, it is very important festival of whole India.

During IMA NATCON-2017 at Mumbai, Dr Jitendra Patel, Past National president, IMA HQ, has received award for Best Community Service; Dr Yogendra S. Modi, Imm. Past President, GSB IMA has received Award for Best Adjudged President of State, GSB IMA has received Distinguished Service Award for Action and IMA News Bulletin Award; Dr Parul Vadgama, Past Secretary, IMA Surat Branch, has received award for Best Adjudged secretary of Local Branch. We congratulate all of them.

We also congratulate Dr Bhupendra Shah, President GSB IMA for being installed as National Vice President, IMA HQ during NATCON-2017 at Mumbai.

A joint meeting of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry & Gujarat State Branch, Indian Medical Association was held at GCCI premises to discuss the ways, modalities and to prepare roadmap for projecting Gujarat as a Best Medical Destination. It is decided to launch a Web Portal and put all latest information regarding Medical facilities and Infrastructure in Gujarat. Speciality Association, Gujarat Medical Council, Junior Doctor Association, Student Association, Intern Association etc.


On 2 January,2018, ‘Black day’ was observed all over India as a call given by IMA HQ to protest against the NMC Bill, which was going to passed in Parliament. As a part of it ‘Black Day’ and Strike from 6 am to 6 pm was observed across the Gujarat State. Almost every 115 Local Branches of GSB has participated without interfering the medical emergencies, with demand the NMC Bill to be send to
Parliament Standing Committee.

GSB IMA has sent Memorandum to all 26 MP of Loksabha of Gujarat, 11 MP of Rajsabha of Gujarat, Hon. Prime Minister and Hon. Health Minister, and all 32 members of Parliament Standing Committee. Majority of our IMA Local Branches has sent Memorandum to all the members of Parliament Standing Committee. We are
thankful for their support

By the Power of our Unity across the country, the Government has set back and seeing the protest of Doctors, they thought to reconsider the NMC Bill and was sent to Parliament Standing Committee for further guidance.
