IMA leadership at head quarters was very concerned on the issue of proposal of NMC to change the medical oath form “Hippocratic” to charak”. Constant Consultations, discussions & careful examination of all the aspects, were being studied diligently, so as to come out with a studied and considerate response. Urgent meeting of office bearers & Leaders of IMA was held under Leadership of National President Dr. Sahajanand Prasad Singh. It was decided to strongly oppose the said proposal &every possible ways will be taken to withdraw this proposal. Be ready for the line of action as and when our head quarter announce it.
Recently, we have observed that many Undergraduate ; Post Graduate and Super Specialty Medical, seats remains vacant ; even after multiple rounds of counselling. This shows that there is some lacune in system and need to make changes in rules of this admission criteria.
At one hand ; we want to increase the medical UG & PG seats & Medical Colleges at each district level, thinking of shortage of Medical Professionals. On other hand, we disqualify a student who has appeared many Exams & Worked for the patients. Government & concerned authorities needs to introspect & take necessary steps and see to it that
all seats doesn’t remain vacant . Although such vacant seats are from Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology & other Non Clinical Branches, we need all this specialists also for better education of our UG
students. Government / NMC has to see that this seats does not remain vacant any how .
We have observed many medical students leave this country for PG Medical Education. Government/ NMC has to seriously think over this brain drain. There may be many reasons but high cost of medical & PG Medical Education in our country, lack of opportunity to work independently, violence on Medical Professionals by Antisocial Elements, Poor Job Opportunity ; very poor salary structure for MBBS and Specialist doctors in our country ; lack of Social Security, No Human Rights for Resident Doctors at Medical colleges, Lack of men power at Govt. Hospitals, harassment by Seniors & Authorities, interference by beurocrates in Medical Professional decisions etc. Are some of the reasons of such brain drain. Time has arrived to cater this issues urgently & prevent brain drain.
