April 2017

Dear Members,

Season’s Greetings from the office bearers of GSB IMA. As the summer has set in with its full strength, students must be enjoying their Vacation. Many of you might have planned for tour or visiting a Hill Station. It is a time to take a little break from your professional life & enjoy the good time with your family. Research also suggests that One or Two vacation in a year with family is necessary to strengthen the family bonding. We convey our best wishes to you and your family members for having a wonderful time.

Last month, we fortunately attended the Medical Health check up camp at Sahyog Trust, Rajendranagar 20 kms. away from Himatnagar on the way towards Shamlaji Temple which was organized by IMA Himatnagar Branch. There we came to know that more than 450 Mentally Retarded Patients were taken care by a fully dedicated volunteers and trained staff. We have been informed that it is one of the Largest of its kind in the India. Office Bearers and Members of IMA Himatnagar Branch are very much involved in the Activities of Sahyog Trust. They are also running Rehabilitation center for the Leprosy patients which are neglected by the society. They are trying not only to help them in rehabilitation but also in upliftment of their quality of life by providing a various opportunity and making them self dependant.

We are highly impressed and have appreciated their Noble work for the betterment of the society. We request our Doctor Members to visit this campus atleast once.

Our Own Visionary Leader & President, World MedicalAssociation Respected Dr. Ketanbhai Desai was Felicitated by
Indian Medical Association, West Bengal State Branch in IMA CWC Meeting held at Kolkata in a Very Impressive Manner.

We proudly announce that our long awaiting Family WelfareScheme GSB IMA has been started from 1st April, 2017 with a member strength of more than 2800. Heartiest Congratulation for being Founder and Proud member of this scheme. We welcome them in this Unique & Noble Brotherhood Fraternity Scheme of GSB IMA.

In last month, successively some incidents of assaults on Resident Doctors have been reported in Ahmedabad, for which Junior Doctor Association has protested and called a strike in Civil Hospital. IMA Leaders and Office Bearers have met Civil Hospital Authority and tried for better outcome.

All the involved persons in these incidences of assaults on the doctors were arrested and booked under recent Act -‘Gujarat Medicare Service Person and Medicare Service Institution (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss of Property) Act, 2012. Any offence committed under this act shall be cognizable and Non Bail-able; shall be imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with Fine, which may extend to Fifty Thousand Rupees or with both. Authority also agreed to provide Police Security at most sensitive points of Hospital.

They have setup the Police Chowky in Civil Hospital Campus. Violent attacks on doctors are increasing day by day.
IMAGujarat State Branch and Whole Medical Fraternity is worried about such attacks. Inspite of Law in favor of Doctors, such attacks are increasing in large number. To understand the sudden changes of such a violent mentality of patients and their relatives, to find out the solution from roots, for smooth functioning of Government Hospitals and Private Hospitals and to provide a safe and secured environment to Doctors, Gujarat State Branch IMA and Ahmedabad Medical Association has jointly called a Meeting of Deans / Medical Superintendents / Directors of all the Medical Colleges and all the Hospitals affiliated to Gujarat University. We will send our suggestions to concern authority and will see that it should be properly implemented to give the proper safety and security to our Doctors.
Regarding this Office Bearers of IMA Gujarat State Branch and Ahmedabad Medical Association had met Respected
Shri Pradipsinh Jadeja, Hon. Minister of State Home, Law and Judiciary, Dept. Govt. of Gujarat and Shri Pankajkumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Gujarat, for strong representation of Medical Fraternity against ViolentAssault on doctors, proper implementation and to make aware the Police Department about “Gujarat Medicare Service Person and Medicare Service Institution (Prevention of Violence and damage or loss of property)Act, 2012.
