First of all we would like to greetings for Vasant Panchmi which is known for Saraswati and Laxmi Puja may Laxmiji brings lot of wealth and prosperity to all.
Looking  at  present  scenario  of  compensation  in  medico-legal cases, a HISTORIC & LANDMARK decision to protect interest of members has been taken by Professional Protection Scheme (P.P.S) of GSB IMA under guidance of Dr Mahendrabhai Desai, Dr  Bipinbhai  Patel  and  whole  managing  committee  of  PPS  to increase indemnity coverage of every member to Rs. 1 Crore per case and also aggregate per year. It is need of hours. After seeing such benefits for members, more and more doctors will prefer to be member of IMA  organisations.

The  same  will  be  implemented  from  1st  April  2020  after  due approvals from respective committees.
Anticipating support from the members as always….
IMA  GSB  strongly  condemn  the  attack  on  CRPF  at  Pulwama. Our sympathies is with the nation. IMA GSB has decided to donate handsome amount to the family of victims. You are requested to
come forward to help by generously donating in this noble cause.
The freedom struggle of the fraternity from the National Medical Commission Bill has been completed with the achievement of the Bill lapsing in Lok Sabha.
The IMC Bill 2018 and the ordinance 2019 have lapsed as well. Consumer Protection Bill 2019 has been deferred amounting to the same effect.
IMA GSB acknowledges the great contributions of the leaders who have led from the front for the cause of the fraternity.
It has been an unique struggle powered by the sacrifice of great leaders.
Generations to come will recall this struggle as reassertion of the identity and fortitude of the profession.

First of all, we would like to convey our greetings for Uttarayan. Hope everybody has enjoyed the festival with family and friends.

On behalf of IMA GSB, we congratulate Dr Pragneshbhai Joshi for installed as National Vice President elect for year 2018-19 and Dr Atulbhai Pandya for elected as National Vice President elect for year 2019-20.

We congratulate the local branches, schemes, wings and members of GSB IMA for being awarded by IMA HQ for their valuable contribution at IMA NATCON-2018, Bengaluru.

We also congratulate Dr Mahendrabhai Desai, Dr Bipinbhai Patel, Dr Vinodbhai Shah, Dr Monaben Desai, Dr Aditbhai Desai for being appointed for various assignment by IMA HQ.

We are thankful to the IMA members, all the IMA Local Branches and entire medical fraternity who has supported and observed All India Black Day on 4/1/2019 against the CPA, NMC and IMC bill. The Government could not pass the draconian NMC bill on floor of LokSabha where it holds absolute majority.

5 major Loksabha Sessions , 18 months, Absolute majority on floor & the strong government resolve could not defeat the consistent,dedicated Indian Medical Association leadership.

Last 18 months entire fraternity witnessed the fight against the draconian NMC Bill including 2 withdrawal of  Services, IMA Bharat Yatra, Mahapanchayat, Dhikkar Diwas, Protest Day, Press & Social media massive coverage to the extent of more than 10,000 news reporting across country, Rally meetings with more than 400 MPs, Meetings with regional political leaders built the never seen mass momentum of IMA Strength all across the nation.

The IMA leaders spent days & nights using every possible resource to combat the government resolve to crush the fraternity.

The collective might of medical fraternity under the leadership of IMA has achieved a major milestone by successfully stalling the draconian NMC bill.

First time the united timely protests of profession with strategic political lobbying for more than 1 year has made it possible.

This further opens up future opportunities for IMA to be the major voice in deciding the health policies of our country.

It’s a golden page in the history of IMA & medical fraternity. This will mark the exemplary dedication, devotion, consistency, confidence of IMA as a milestone to be used by future generations to come.

Kudos to the entire medical fraternity.

Medical Education is the key edifice on which the generation of effectively trained health manpower
depends, which in its turn is the key repository for an effective healthcare delivery system in the country
towards diligent actualization of the core concept of the ‘Welfare State’ enshrined in the Constitution. The
‘health’ of medical education in the domain of ‘quality centricity’ therefore, turns out to be the guarantee
of the ‘health’ of a meaningful diligent ‘outcome based’ healthcare delivery system. It is for this very
reason regulation of medical education has to be objective, autonomous, responsive, responsible and yet
accountable.

In order to ensure fulfillment of the set out objectives of medical education is statutorily regulated
through a body created by a Parliamentary Enactment in the name ‘Medical Council of India’ in terms of
Indian Medical Council Act,1933 epealed by Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, which came to be amended
in the year 1964, 1993, 2001, 2015 and 2016 respectively. However, the Government of India, intends to
repeal the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 as amended from time to time by a proposal titled ‘National
Medical Commission Bill 2017/18′ which is pending consideration by the Loksabha since March, 2018.
The Government of India, superseded elected Medical Council of India reconstituted by itself on 5th
November, 2013 by an ordinance dated 26th September, 2018 availing authority vested with it under
section 3(A) of the IMC Act, 1956.
The said dissolution has been condemned by IMA in vociferous terms stating the said action on part
of the Government of India, to be autocratic, undemocratic, unilateral, highhanded, without citing any
reasons for the same in public domain and solely aimed at ensuring that elections for constituting of the
Medical  Council  of  India  by  5th  November,  2018  are  scuttled,  which  is  nothing  short  of  an  abject
cowardice.

IMA with its total solidarity and unity is committed to oppose the nefarious design of the Government
of India, in pushing through the National Medical Commission Bill by styling it as a ‘Money Bill’, in total
contravention of Article 110 read with 117 of the Constitution of India with all its might in the interest of
people and profession alike.
It has successfully resisted the might of the Govt. for well over past 9 months and resolves with
purpose, determination and direction to resist the same, come-what-may. This is the miracle that the
strength and unity of IMA has been able to usher in and would continue to bring desired results in public
interest.  The  resolve  of  the  IMA  on  this  count  is  unending  till  the  desired  results  are  achieved  in  a
meaningful sense.

As the holy occasion of Diwali is here and the atmosphere is filled with the spirit of mirth and love, here’s hoping this festival of beauty brings your way, bright sparkles of contentment, that stay with you through the days ahead.

New year has begun but our challenges are old. since India became independent in 1947, there has been steady progress on all fronts of human
and economic development. India has matured as the largest democracy in the world and also earned the reputation of being one of the fastest growing economies during last two decades. However, the country remains challenged with several pressing issues which includes maintaining good health for the second largest population in world. As a signatory of Alma Ata declaration, provision of primary health care has remained a priority area in the planning process.

Had you told me 17 years ago I would become IMA
president one day, I would not have believed you.

It is very hard for all of us to change our old beliefs.We feel so comfortable with our old ways that many a times we refuse to change and we start taking pride in that.Along the line, many of us may start criticizing the newer things and gradually it becomes a way of life for us.

The political scenario of county, the economy, the status of rupee, the terrorist attacks in different parts of the county, the sensitive situation at Pakistan & china borders, the intrusion of enemy’s forces in our land, various scams. The list is endless
