Wish you all a very very happy, healthy & festive season. Atmosphere  is  pleasant  almost  everywhere  and  other  way atmosphere  is  full  of  world  olympics.  We  all  have  huge expectations from our participants. The same way people of our country have huge expectations from we doctors on health aspect. We all should try our best to fulfill those expectations.
Our  IMA  HQ  is  also  working  hard  to  fulfill  we  doctors’ demands from Government. They represent so many issues ongoingly with their bureaucrats. We publish those matters in our monthly bulletin for members information & knowledge.
Our  parent  body  committed  support  to  Government  in many community programs and our leaders do expect whole hearted contribution from IMA members.

We appeal our concerned members to participate fully in (PMSMA)  Pradhan  Mantri  Surakshit  Matritva  Abhiyan.

IMA HQ has launched so many other initiatives which are really  need  of  the  hour  in  current  situation.  One  such  is Hospital Board of India which is really a very good option to defend    our  fraternity  from  the  reach  of  CEA.  We  do  give information of different initiatives in our bulletin.
Recently we have witnessed huge political change in our state. But a very good news for all of us is that our own respected leader Dr KETAN DESAI is going to take over the post of World Medical Association in October month. Which is really a matter of great proud for all of us.
At last, Rajkot IMA is hosting GIMACON 2016 this year in the  month  of  October.  They  strive  hard  to  make  it  grand  & successful  from  all  aspects.  Don’t  miss  to  witness  this  mega event.

Dear Members,

At the onset We wish Happy Monsoon to you and your family members. We again wish that by the time you receive this bulletin, Gujarat would have adequate rain all over the state. As you all know, overall situation worldwide is getting more and more disturbed day by day. We all get more & more negative news from all the corners of world. It includes Financial, Social, Political, Terrorism, Education, Health & on & on & on. How can our fraternity remain spare from it?

We are facing so many key issues related to our practice like: Recent amendments in GPCB laws and its rise in registration charges almost 3 fold. Concession in electrical tariffs to big hospitals but not to really needed small size hospitals, day by day rising incidents of assault on doctors, PCPNDT act, ever burning issue of clinical establishment act, issues of medical students and resident doctors. The list is too long.

We strongly feel that though we expect many things to be understood from other side like people & government, but at the same time it’s high time to introspection too. We must change our working pattern as per need of the hour. Time has gone when people were considering doctors as God. If we want to gain that position back, lot many things seem to be done from our side too whether we accept or not. We need to work in a professional
manner, we mean in a systematic way. As number of sues are rising like anything & court is working & giving their judgments only on that basis. We should be legally and on paper right. That’s the need. We all have to learn this technique to save ourselves first.

Friends, IMA HQ is running one such wing which trains our members and create our establishment in such a way that we can sustain & fulfill the society’s demands. That is HBI: Hospital Board of India. You may have the details of it from our IMA HQ’s website. GSB office is also working on effective implementation of it over
entire state.

Leaders of Gujarat IMA has already asked for time to meet Honourable Chief Minister to discuss & short out various issues of us. We need your strong support time to time.

At this juncture we request all state leaders to work on increasing our membership strength and collecting existing members data what we are asking for continuously through our bullpen and website. But we hardly have full details of less than 50% of members of such a highly educated members association. Just have a thought about it.

At last we invite creative criticism, suggestions & feedback for overall improvement of our own monthly bulletin.

Indian Medical Association Family is growing & expanding every month. To remain as a family is need of hour in today’s world. June and July has got many important days which needs to be celebrated to impart   a  message of social activities.

5th  June  is  World  Environment  Day,  as  we  all  know  global warming is a major issue around the world. We should preserve our environment by using less electricity, saving water, avoiding plastic use maximum, using paper carry bags, communicating more through soft copies than hard copies. Let everyone of us plant single tree once in a life time with a tree guard of respective name and see that it is surviving and growing into a big tree- in your hospital, parks or may be street where your house is located. Preserve seeds of fruits and vegetables which are consumed by us in a bag rather than throwing them in dust bin; throw these seeds randomly on sides of highway before rains, we might get a tree.

14th June is World Blood Donor Day and 1st July is Doctor’s Day- We urge and request let blood donation be part of     our major activity. We should donate blood regularly at least twice a year. It is easiest   tissue donation which we can be done   three or four times a year. Let the blood donation be for needy patients of government hospitals so that patients who cannot afford single blood bag are not deprived of blood. On doctor’s day We just wish all  doctors  are  remaining  in  brotherhood  and  we  work  more  on improving doctor patient relationship and our approach to patient be  more  sympathetic.  Let  us  take  due  care  that  doctor  patient relationship is maintained in harmony.

21st  June  International  Yoga  Day-  Yoga  is  a  gift  given  by  our country  to  world.  We  are  living  a  stressful  life;  distressing  is desired  at  every  level-  especially  for  doctors.  Life  expectancy  of doctors is significantly lower than that of general public. So, Yoga should be part of our routine and we should celebrate International Yoga  Day,  We  are  sure  at  least  10  new  doctor  will  be  getting sensitized  to  yoga  and  making  it  regular  daily  habit.  Life  Style Diseases are grabbing our neck and Yoga is answer to most of the life style diseases.

We  desire  and  request  all  of  our  IMA  members  to  be  part  of GIMACON 2016 to be hosted at Rajkot on 15th & 16th October 2016. Conference is the place where we learn many things, where we  meet  old  friends  and  make  new  ones,  we  increase  our brotherhood, we have merry time, we interact and solve our petty misgivings, we make life time memories. Rajkot or Saurashtra or Kathiawad  is  always  famous  for  its  hospitality,  food  and
entertainment. Let us be part of it and let us motivate our friends to be  part  of  it-  because  IMA  is  our  parent  association  which  has always played pivotal role in life of each and every doctor.

Dear Members,
Wishing you all a very very happy & safe summer season.  As you all must be experiencing the peak of this summer
while  this  bulletin  is  under  process  of  printing.  We  have previously mentioned in one of our message that day by day all  seasons  are  getting  harder  &  harder.  This  year  we  have witnessed severe heat wave. It was never experienced in last few years to our knowledge. Temperature has almost touched 50*c  this  season  in  almost  all  parts  of  the  state.  Various corporations have declared red & orange alerts for the same. We have included details of guidelines to combat heat wave elsewhere  in  this  issue.    And  let  us  reiterate  that  we  the human beings are responsible by & large for such a drastic climatic change. Its high time to have collective actions from all the fronts. Its not a job of any single agency or authority. It’s a  global  issue  &  critical  impact  of  over  ambitious
developmental process of human race.

Last month, biggest hot topic other than heat wave was NEET examination ruling by supreme court. Medical aspirant students & their parents have faced stressful period by sudden declaration  of  change  of  examination  pattern.  We  always welcome  NEET  as  it  provides  single  window  system  for admission  &  also  provides  transparency.  As  government  has cleared the confusion for current year students as of now, it seems now that NEET will be implemented from next year.

Medical   fraternity is passing through turmoil scenario. It faces lots of different kind of issues from all the corners. Like govt  policies,  CEA,  assault,  PCPNDT,  interpathy  practice issues,  issues  related  to  pharma  companies  &  commission, overall rising investment for establishment of private set ups, caping of charges, record keeping, corporatisation of medical practice 7 on & on & on. And hats off to our national leaders that they are powerfully dealing all the issues efficiently.

Dear Members,

Hope this bulletin finds you in the best of your health and spirits. Vacation and summer would be at its peak when it will come to your hand. But as you all are well aware that we doctors don’t have any official vacation in their private set ups. Friends, recently there was one judgement, where it was clearly mentioned that Doctors are Human beings first & then doctors. They can’t be forced or expected to work without rest. We strongly believe that all doctors should have their planned vacation schedule, so their patients won’t suffer, at the same time their batteries get fully recharged.

Recently Delhi High court has given one judgement, which clearly states that any doctor other than allopathy can’t prescribe modern medicines legally. This Landmark judgement would certainly support our IMA’s demand to implement it all over country.

Long awaiting decision about implementation of NEET for UG & PG medical admission has also come recently. If it would be implemented, then process of examination would become much smoother. That was a long pending suggestion of our visionary leader DR KETAN DESAI. We have given some details about NEET & Crosspathy decision in this bulletin. Kindly go through it. We are ongoingly putting important information related to our fraternity in bulletin. So keep habit of going through all details.

IMA HQ is representing & negotiating with appropriate authorities at higher level regarding various issues our
fraternity. We ongoingly print important & useful matter in our bulletin continuously to update our members with what is going on. So once again I reiterate that kindly spare some time from schedule to go through bulletin for your own sake.

As we all know that corporate hospitals are increasing day by day. Looking to present scenario, there will be all possibility of corporate era. So in recent CWC meeting at Agra, our own leader mentioned the concept of corporate hospitals run by IMA . Our request to all members to think & work on possibility of the same in future.

Dear members,
Greetings from office bearers of GSB IMA.  New financial year  has started just now. At this juncture, we would like to express our view that we doctors do hard work in our profession & earn good enough. But many of us are very poor manager of their hard earn money.   As we plan & organise our daily medical work, we should do the same in this part also. Because this is very critical part of our life & most of us take it very lightly. So our request to all our colleagues that this is the right time to do it now if you are not doing so.
As you all know our medical fraternity is passing through turmoil situation since last few years. Our fraternity is grossly criticised from almost all front that includes our own members also. We don’t deny all allegations at the same time we don’t agree with all of them. But our request to those who make allegations to look  into  the  matter  genuinely  &  think  of  all  the  pros  &  cons before making any derogatory statement for such a highly noble
& respected profession.
Recently, Govt of Gujarat has issued a notification in which they  have  prefixed  Physiotherapy  people  as  doctors.  We  have strongly objected against such notification & we are into the process of legal steps for the same. We have sent many quotes & judgements favouring our say & the matter is still pending.

In the last budget of Gujarat State, they have reduced the electric tax for big hospitals & non profitable hospitals with bed capacity  more  than  15.  We  have  demanded  to  pass  on  this benefit to all hospitals irrespective of number of beds.
Many of our local branches are doing excellent community, family  &  scientific  programmes  at  their  place.  They  do  send report to us & we regularly print it in our monthly bulletin too. We insist other branches also that do send regular reports to state office along with your positive suggestions to improve the quality of our bulletin. We need your feedback.

Wishing you all a very happy ending of this winter season.
As you all know that with the ending of one season, other starts. But since last few years, we all
witness sudden change of weather in between or some intermittent phase where more than one season
exists. Its commonly known as effect of Global Warming. But friends, have you observed similar kind of
behavioral patterns among human beings too? That pattern changes frequently. That is known as impact
of Globalization.
With the advancement of Information Technology and Social media, any kind of information spreads
with jet speed. If information is negative, the speed gets doubled. And that prevails every where. Because
that’s how the human brain works. That’s how we have grown up. But friends, yes, with conscious and
continuous efforts, that can be transformed toward positive side. Though it’s exhaustive job but in long
run, it certainly pays. Our sincere request to medical fraternity friends, looking to present scenario of
patient doctor relationship, the way it deteriorates so rapidly, let us have a beginning from our side to
improve it.

Certainly we at IMA GSB are witnessing very good impact of advancement of technology by
involvement of local branch leaders through social media. There is very good day to day interaction among
them all. Which has started bringing them closer to each other, sharing of their local branch activities and
many more things to evolve.
Friends, last month GSBIMA president Dr Atul Pandya has took the lead of an unique project with
support of Gujarat Psychiatry Association ” JI VISH” that is to prevent suicidal cases among students all over
Gujarat.
We need your active and affirmative participation in IMA activities. That will certainly boost our
morale.
Our heartiest congratulations to Imm. Past President Dr. Chetan Patel for achieving “Best Adjudged
State President” award during NATCON-2015, New Delhi.

At the end, our best wishes are always there with all exam going students, particularly 10th & 12th as
they are considered as benchmark for their career.

Dear members,

Kindly accept our warm wishes on the auspicious occasion of our 65th Republic Day. As you all know that INDIA became a Sovereign Democratic Republic Country on this day and the constitution of the country came into force. Our country is a symbol of great diversity in every form. Time flies faster but still we hold this unity close to our heart for last 65 years.

We wish feeling of oneness remains in the heart of every Indian in our journey to glorious future. Friends, we wish the same unity among our fraternity friends too. As you all know that nowadays, there is huge lack of patience and trust among people as a whole in each and every field. Tolerance has reduced drastically. It’s the need of hour to come together and exhibit our unity.

Recently we have experienced very good outcome of such unity at different local branches of GSB. Our IMA HQ is very much prompt in representing various issues at appropriate platform and brought positive outcomes in those issues. IMA also run many different initiatives which we have already published.

Our request to all leaders of state and local branches to participate actively in few of the initiatives which inspire you.
From GSB, we decided to work on “BLOOD DONATION DRIVE ” throughout the state from time to time. As we all know about the shortage and ongoing demand of blood in treating various ailments. And it has been rising with the advancement of medical science and technology. It’s our moral duty to create awareness among lay people about voluntary blood donation.

We request all leaders and members to work on this campaign by our own IMA GSB at your convenient time atleast
once in a year. You may organize camps in association with other groups of people. We request you to inform us prior so that we may also become part of that camp and visit your branch & have interaction with our colleagues.

Friends, we do invite innovative ideas from our members, which we are committed to provide platform & take our
association at newer height. You might have noticed few in recent issues of our bulletin. Come out and play the full blown game. Bring out your hidden talent and enjoy.

Gujarat State IMA has shown phenomenal progress in past years and it is one of the most active association at national level. This would not have been achieved if my worthy predecessors and other office bearers had not put in yeomen efforts and dedicated themselves in this pious cause. I will fail in my duty if I do not remember the contributions of my former colleagues Dr.Bipinbhai Patel, Dr.Mahendrabhai Desai, Dr. Jitendrabhai Patels, Dr.Kirtibhai Patel, Dr. Chetanbhai Patel, Dr.Golwala, Dr.Pragneshbhai Joshi, Dr.Mansukh Kanani, Dr.Bharatbhai Trivedi, Dr.Ashok Kanodia, Dr.Yogendra Modi, Dr.Babulal Patel, Dr.Anil Naik and many others under visionary leader Dr.Ketanbhai Desai’s guidance and constant inspirations. I salute you all on behalf of Gujarat state IMA.
Our doctors of Gujarat are always keen to serve IMA and the society, be it CME, conferences, workshops, medical camps, awareness programmes, rallies, serving society in any odd situation or natural calamities. In short IMA has its enormous contribution to society in one way or other. Much more to be done in this direction is to shorten the gap between patient and doctors and I sincerely wish as a philanthropic social activity we will do such social services as a team.

I wish doctors are given the appropriate honour in the society and Doctor-Patient relationship is getting strengthened in view of social services rendered by doctor fraternity. For this we, the doctors will have to keep the hunger for medical knowledge kept kindled thus updating our skills and pass on the medical knowledge to the society for prevention of disease and better health.

IMA is a family. I earnestly seek support, help and guidance  from every single member of IMA. I know ,”THE CAPTAIN IS AS GOOD AS HIS TEAM”. As an humble human being I wish and pray that I am proved a good captain ,ultimately.

As our veda says “ SAMA GACHHADHVAM” meaning let us progress together.

Dear Colleagues,

For the first time in the history of Indian Medical Association, a joint meeting of IMA HQ Office Bearers and State & Local branch Presidents and Hon. Secretaries had been organized on 10th& 11th October 2015. It was a different experience for all who have attended because it was a meeting with a lectures on Spiritual topics, leadership qualities an a different problems of medical profession & how to deal with it. The meeting ended with micro planning of IMA satyagrah. Yes no strike & no closure of clinics & hospitals. IMA has decided to do “SATYAGRAH”. “IMA Satyagrah for Healthy India”. All over India, Indian Medical Association has decided to do IMA Satyagrah on 16th November 2015. On that day we will try to draw the attention of society to the various issues concern to medical profession & society at large. We request each local branch to do SATYAGRAH on that day as per the guidelines given by IMA. IMA Gujarat has committed that more than 5000 doctors will participate on that day in Gujarat. We are sure you will participate in a large number.

IMA Vadodara branch members are busy with organizing the GIMACON 2015 on 28th& 29th November 2015. We earnestly appeal to all IMA GSB members and particularly to all branch Presidents, Secretaries and Central & State Council members to register for the same if they have not yet registered. Please go through the Scientific Programme of the Conference.

We are eager to welcome and see you all in the conference. The security of Medical Professionals providing healthcare to the public has become a major issue. The incidences of vandalism are increasing. Media and Public unnecessarily blame the doctors.

Every death is not due to negligence.One should understand that the disease process takes its own course. Our State has Prevention of violence and damage to property bill for hospital and medical professionals protection. However Police Department is not much aware of it. We request each & every medical establishment should keep a copy of it. In this regard we much congratulate IMA Surat branch who demanded that the FIR should be registered against persons involved in violence against doctors and hospitals under this Act and succeded. We appeal to the medical profession to constantly improve their communication skills and avoid situations leading to violence.
Another issue which is utmost important is concerning the health insurance. There are inherent problems and no clear-cut policy and directives of insurance companies and TPAs. This requires all urgent attention and should be amicably settled so that all the state holders are satisfied.

Medicos are often falsely blamed by the government agencies and also by media for not going to villages but on the contrary the medicos are always eager to provide the healthcare facility to each and every citizen whether
in rural area or urban area. The lack of infrastructure in rural area sometimes frustrates the young medicos working in the rural areas when they are not able to do justice while treating the patients. The project Aao
Gaon Chalen is so popular and moving ahead, now we are trying to form a new wing of IMA –
“IMA Aao Gaon Chalen Wing”.

In the last State Working Committee, we have already formed “IMA Young Doctors Wing” & will be established and start working with permission of IMA GSB State Council to be held on 28th November 2015. The Young Doctors Wing is planning a State Convention of young medicos in the month of January.
IMA should not be seen as a simple association but it is like an intellective protective body for the identity and rights of the profession and the individuals. We applaud the role of medical specialty organizations and the Academic Wings of IMA in their yeoman service in updating the medical professionals through CME and workshops. We appeal to all
specialist organizations whose members are also members of IMA that we should use the IMA platform to raise their problems and issues concerning individual identify / rights / dignity of the profession and professionals. We should work with unity and cohesiveness for strong networking. Our endeavor is to take along the whole medical fraternity. Unity, hard work and providence will take us to our destiny.
